Bogden Print Control & Automation Starkstrom Elecitrcial Engineers Glasgow ScotlandStarkstrom were called in when our client who has a print winding machine, called a Bogden, main motor failed. The machine downtime was affecting customer orders and a fast turnaround time was important to the client. The existing main motor was a speed controlled synchronous motor with a pilot motor. This arrangement was altered to a variable speed drive and induction motor. The client was delighted with the fast turnaround, seven working days. This new installation resulted in an improved machine performance, operator satisfaction and there was a bonus of overall reduced
machine noise levels.

OVERTEMPERATURE: Client had a problem with an Air Dryer being overheated and causing damage to the plates when the product bed was broken and the operator started increasing the inlet temperature to cater for the drop in outlet temperature:
Starkstrom fitted a simple K type thermocouple controller with a trip set-point.

ELEVATOR BELT DAMAGE: Client had a problem with operators repeatedly starting a Bucket Elevator when it was jammed. This resulted in the bucket elevator belt being worn through with considerable replacement and downtime consequences.
Starkstrom fitted a motion detection system that locks out the conveyor if no motion is detected.

INSTALLATION: Our Client in North Ayrshire has asked Starkstrom to assist them on site with various machine and plant electrical upgrades and installations. These projects are ongoing.
